If I have the option to not play with any one from the Phillipines during matchmaking, my Dota 2 experience would be much more pleasant. I don't mean to sound racist but it's the truth. In the evening I was chill and teams were chill.
What goes around comes around. On September 12 inimenesc wrote: it actually depends how toxic you are. I can feel that the people doing the research are not into playing these games at all ;D My ideas on the "remove voicechat thingy": First of all, removing voice chat wont address any problem at all, let me tell you why.
In general, talking via voice is way easier than typing some shit in chat. That means people who flame in the chat take their time of the game to flame. People reading the chat are distracted from the actual game and might even respond which will increase their distraction level from the actual game. Its gets worse with every word that is typed. Many times this will result in a flame war between X players and a lost game.
Experience for everyone including the people who dont give a fuck about anything will get worse. You can see the chain reaction. Whats the conclusion? Remove the chat from the game Cant be done since not everyone got a microphone. So back to zero, come up with something new, let the chat be and the voice be.
Targeting these two methods of communication wont change anything regarding toxicity. As a former UMN student i was compelled to fill it out.
However, it kind of seemed like loaded questions. Anyone, and everyone, who plays dota has run into toxicity. In my experience, voice chat has nothing to do with it. It is a means of communication.

Posts Latest Activity Photos. Page of 3. Filtered by:. Previous 1 2 3 template Next. Why do all the questions make me feel like the one who prepared the survey never played a game of DotA?
What am I supposed to say if I am told to estimate the average gold I have at the end of a game? Is this a trick question or are we really expected to come up with a number?
DotA games fluctuate so much that there is no way I can estimate something like total gold at the end of a game. The question about levels raised eyebrows as well but that much was ugh But being asked to estimate the total gold, number of kills and number of deaths in a DotA match has left me absolutely dumbfounded.
Whatever did you guys reply to those if you filled the surveys? Blogs Reflections on my TI10 jour…. TI10 "Feels" Meta Re…. Post a Reply. I'm a part of a team of game researchers conducting a paid survey for individuals willing to play a custom game of Dota2. The game is available on Steam Workshop here , and the survey is provided in a hyperlink after the game concludes.
We are studying how interrelationships between in-game actions affects forecasts. This is for academic purposes only and is not sponsored in any way, all information shared is voluntary through the survey, though we will need an email address to pay through Paypal. We created this tool to make in-game forecasts about who is winning a game of Dota 2 and gives that information to players.
Our tool also gives suggestions as to what actions you can take and how much it will affect your win probabilities.
