The decision is, of course, no reflection on Mr Petropoulos. Whyalla Mayor Clare McLaughlin said it was great for council to "get on with the job" of returning the Beach Cafe now that a decision has been made about its future.

Ms McLaughlin said it had been a long months for the community without a cafe at the foreshore, but she was pleased with the response to the survey. Around people filled out the cafe survey, with McGregor Tan describing the participation rate as high and the survey outcomes as "robust".
